Abstract

Fluidized bed drying is one of the most used and successful drying method in food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. When compared with other drying techniques, fluidized bed drying offers many advantages which result in higher efficient drying. Many studies in lab- and industry-scales are continued on fluidized bed drying concept for improvements of performance characteristics. It is essential to review these developments on fluidized bed drying. The recent significant experimental studies on a batch-type fluidized bed dryer are presented and discussed in this paper drawing attention to its advantages and also disadvantages.
